Helmets

On the hunt for a new helemt to replace my shoei x spirit.

Criteria is a sports/race helmet which is quiet, light and with great ventaliation. I want something for dedicated sunny day blasts as I've already got the shoei GT air for touring and all year round use.

Tried a few on tonight as stumbled past infinity motorcycles so popped in.

I was recomended and liked the Shoei NXR which was a good fit and very very light. Looks good with plenty of vents too.

Any body got any experience with this helmet or got an alternative recommendation that would be suitable for my needs.

Budget is up to £500.

I've got the NXR. Love it! Came with a free shoei helmet bag and genuine dark visor (£50 odd) from sportsbikeshop or lids direct, can't remember which now. They both usually have a 20% off sale at some point during the winter months which is worth waiting for knowing how you like a bargain!

AGV Corsa.

Best sportsbike helmet I have worn by some margin.

I would however recommend you try one on as they do Medium Small and Medium Large sizes. I bought mine at the NEC last year and spent ages deciding between the two sizes and wore both for about 10 minutes each within the sellers stand. :D

I eventually plumped for the MS, as they it was very tight, it never got uncomfortable. However when i wore it for the first 10 or so times this year I really thought I had bought a size too small.

After a few months though, It is now a spot on fit though after wearing it in properly.

The visor aperture is sized and positioned to work only for sportsbike head down riding which is why it works so well. Its beautifully made too.

Cheers Duke the AGV Corsa is certainly on my short list just haven't tried one on yet.

In no rush to get one as it's mainly for next seasons use so will hunt for a winter bargain.

One thing the dealer did tonight eas play around with different liners in different helmets.

I think I tired a nxr medium with a large liner (thinner apparently) but the best fit seemed a large nxr with thicker cheek pads. I think it's worth getting the extra benefits of a custom fit as it obviously needs to fit as close to perfect as possible.

Will definitely get a corsa tried on though and thanks for thr suggestion.

When you try it, make sure you push the chinbar upwards. the helmet fits differently to anything else i have worn in that when you are stood upright you can only just about see over the chinbar.

Venting is good, far better than my old helmet! Very comfy and everything on it just works. The AGV is a nice helmet too but a different fit to shoei so if you have a shoei head and your gt-air fits you well I would defo try it a few times before you buy it.

One of the lads on 675.cc got a Bell Carbon job the other day Blade, looks like a great bit of kit for the price, : http://www.675.cc/675/posts/370104/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ok cheers for the tip Duke.

I assume that's because the visor aperture is positioned for good vision when in the tucked in position of a sportsbike.

Out of interest do you use the corsa just on the 748 or also the multi ?

Now that does look nice. You have thrown a right curve ball in the mix there StMarks (lol)

I was pretty sure I wanted an.all white helemt with a black visor but I do like that carbon weave will have to look into this a little more.

This is what I originally had in my minds eye as fancied a plain white helemt for ages and reckon it would go nice with my new black and white leathers.

Yes that's the reason to tilt the chinbar up. I kept trying to pull it down but it doesn't fit or work properly then.

I've not worn it on the Multi as it don't think it would work for that reason. It lets in too much sunlight at the top and restricts the lower vision.

Makes sense Duke and I thought as much. It's clearly an out and out race helmet designed for sports bike use.

White is more visible. You will stand a better chance of seeing which way I went on ride outs (lol)
