Plastic Tank Fuel Leak

I've got a mate with a Triumph 595 who has a fuel leak

Turns out he has a pinhole in his plastic tank

He's happy to repair it himself by injecting and sealing the hole

But .. what should he use ?

Some sort of Epoxy resin maybe ? Any thoughts on fuel safe sealant ?

Never tried it but would like to see how plastic welding works

Pro Seal Instant Petrol Tank & Radiator Sealant Repair Putty.

Used this on my Daytona when the captive nut at the rear of the tank just kept turning. Tried to drill around the nut to get it out but accidently drilled all the way through. Pressed this putty all around the nut on outside and inside the tank, cures rock hard so able to sand it down, brilliant stuff. Been like that for at least 3 and a bit years

Perkles is spot on...JB Weld is messy but effective....also totally inert once it sets. It's also very brittle which makes it utterly pointless for ooooh....repairing your rear fender...or mine for instance....fecker just broke immediately.....live and learn.

Oooops....nearly forgot....used it myself when my own tank started leaking....needed a new O-ring and the weld stuff around the lower assembly hole IIRC. I also seem to remember an issue with one of the additives in gas causing this issue on the plastic tanks....??

Iirc it's to do with ethanol, there's a lot of cars and bikes that can't use fuel with that as a constituent and yes it's playing hell with tanks on old bikes.

That's right.....Cali gas is like 5000% ethanol or sommit like that....caused some tanks to get minor blistering....not really a big deal, as we don't have much of a choice in the matter.....gums up the injectors over time too, IIRC.
