I had a chaser too Rocket and loved it and there are simply stunning replica designs available but what's putting me off is it only scored 3 out of 5 on the Sharp test.

I will post up a separate link to the sharp test results website but have a look at the animation for side impact where the arai chaser only scores poor.

Might be useful info for when your considering what to go with next. Don't mean to put you off the chaser but thought the info would be useful.

As much as anything else it was fitment tried an avg and no matter which size I tried it was not right. Shoei fits but I get a pinching across the top of my for head on long rides. The arai just felt the best out of the bunch comfy but tight and secure with good vision.

It's the best quality helmet I have owned leagues above the bell, ogk and my old Shoei helmets.

I do like Arai helmets and might consider another Chaser myself in light of some of the comments on here regards the Sharp Test results.

I really like my Shoei and think the quality is top class but one area Shoei do lack behind Arai is in the design department. Arai have some simply stunning race replcia helmets on the market.

I've always been a fan of the Nagano lid. The new Rossi agv he wore today is my new favourite Rossi design.

Spencer colours are sweet.

I've spent enough on helmets in the last year but i really fancy one of these simply for the colours.

I too am a long term shoei user about 8 too date I think...

I was determined to look at every possible option (and did), and I came to the following conclusion:

Track day/race/blast out - Shoei X-Spirit 2
Touring/everyday - Shoei GT Air

I almost spent the £699 on the crutchlow rep (really wanted it).... But I went back to the old adage of the best helmet regardless of price (within reason) is the one that fits you best....

Very good advice Daz (y)

I currently have the same set up. i.e GT Air for everday use and X Spirit for track days and blasts.

I m replacing the X Spirit as now 5 years old and like you I really like the Arai designs and not knocking Arai quality one bit but I think the Shoei my be a better product marginally.

My Shoe GT Air also has the Emergency Quick Release System which I think is a really good feature and is also included on the Shoei NXR.

Do Arai offer this feature ?

Been doing some more searching and I really fancy having a blow out and getting this beauty.

Only thing putting me off is the vents are not on little sliders like most road helmets. They just have a little bit of rubber you can peel out. I guess it's a full on race helmet so not designed to be worn all day and if just using for brief sessions on track you decide upfront if you want vents in or vents out. The obvious negative for a road user is conditions change on a full days ride out so the ease of flicking a slider to close or open the vents is pretty dam useful.

I don't see the vents as an issue Blade. If the weather changes that much on a ride out you'll be stopping to put wet weathers on anyway, another minute to bung up the vents shouldn't be a worry.

That helmet looks cool as fook!

I know what your saying kiwi but tbh if I go out early morning this time of year it can be 5 degrees first thing and later in the day 20 degrees with no rain to be seen.

I know in theory it can be over come but not sure if it's just too much hassle to be changing things on a helemt on a ride out.

Also I would have concerns about how durable these removable rubber plates are. Would they wear or fatigue and not go in very well after a few changes ?

If you look at the two top vents above the visor in the picture I posted in the top left helmet the vents are removed but in the top right helmet the vents covers are fitted.

Think I will do a little more research and maybe see if I can find a helemt to look at.

Does look super trick as fook though doesn't it :P 8) :P
