£450 all in is a big bill to pay as a suggestion could you sell your damaged one as others are doing as a way of recovering some of the cost ?

That's the plan.

Plus I've got my black fairings to sell as well as various other parts. I don't think it'll cost me much overall as I didn't pay much for the white fairing kit.

Bloody hell that's expensive for a tank. Well glad you've secured something won't be long until it's sorted

£250 for a damaged tank (facepalm)

Hopefully I'll get the same price for mine.

I've got the tank home and it looks fine.

Only problem is he's sent it with the fuel capped in. Locked. No key. (facepalm)

DOH! That will cost you extra, bloody hell you want the key as well!!! some people (giggle)

Is the previous owner quite local as I assume you cannot remove the OEM fuel cap without the key even if you remove the screws.

Fair play he's come straight back to me. What I thought was the end of the gaffer tape was folded gaffer tape hiding a key.

Problem solved.

I think you can remove tank caps by removing the bolts anyway even without the key.

Not on the zx10 you can't duke I tried that the other week, its obviously a security feature.

Nor on Hondas. The lock goes out under the tank preventing people from taking the bolts out and lifting the cap.

I got round to trying to book the tank in for a respray but the chap is going on holiday on Saturday. He'll be in touch when he gets back.

I've bought an unpainted rear seat cowl so that can get sprayed at the same time.

The carbon chain guard will be replaced with a metal one to reduce the amount of carbon at the rear of the bike. I've got carbon swingarm covers to go on so I don't want it looking too OTT.

If the weather is decent this weekend I might start swapping some bits around.

When do you want to get the bike ready for Kwacky or is this a project that hasn't really got a time limit due to your new bike?

No time limit. I want to get on the track at some point this summer but it won't take much to have it ready for that, a new front tyre and swapping the old alternator out with a reconditioned one I've got.
