The differences seem to be more to do with the suspension and the rear end height than the engine.

They have saved 20% off the engine internals that's significant.it also sounds like they have addressed the low and mid range power the current bike is always criticised about
I'm in the head office on Monday and will enquire about my discount :)

You'll have to ask Mr Kawasaki for a job if you want a discount.

Seems it can also be adjusted through the ECU to have an autoblipper downshifter too. I was much more impressed by that on the 1299 than the upshifter. Far more useful on the road.

I bet those prices are at least 20% cheaper than we will have to stump up in the UK

It's good marketing that's all.

Don't get me wrong some good revisions but no new bike imo.

I still want one though (happy)

Apart from the brakes, the airbox, the electronics, the engine, the front suspension and the front fairing it's almost identical :D

Yes i's a revision like the my12 Blade. Nothing major changed imo just lots of small tweaks or component updates / changes and tbh nothing really did need changing it's good bike and still competitive in all superbike and superstock race classes. It's enough to keep customers, race teams and emission testing authorities happy with out a clean sheet redesign.

The SP2 has a different frame, swingarm, exhaust, sub frame, throttle bodies, fuel injectors, ecu and maps, forks, rear shock, gearbox, geometry, screen, and wheels to the SP1 and that's just of the top of my head. Who considers the SP2 a complete new bike over an SP1.

The 2016 Zx10r is a very good improvement and a significant improvement over the 2015 bike and I would really like to upgrade but imo it's not a new bike.

The difference between a gen1, gen2, gen3, gen4 zx10r was a clean sheet new bike design. In my opinion and that's all it is the step from a gen4 to a gen5 zx10r is not a clean sheet design it's a comprehensive update.

The general feeling on the zx10r forum is not a major leap over the 2015 bike.

Don't get me wrong I think it's a very good update and my only complaint personally speaking is I would have liked a full colour dft dash.

The bike has also gained 5 kg but I guess that has to happen when you add additional electronics and it's still competitive at 206 kg wet.
