Sorry to hear the bad news Monty, have to agree with the suggestion to flog it as a project, there's always some sad soul that wants to while away the winter hours trying to graft a ZXR 750 lump into a frame it wasn't designed for.

Plus you won't have to deal with the Ebay twats. (rain)

No Spud, still avoiding the garage. A bit like avoiding the patch of garden where you buried Rover!

But I have spent a lot of the weekend on Youtube looking at car reviews. Decided on the new A3 with the flappy paddle thingys! Just need to convince my boss why I need the flappy paddle things!

Cheers Deegee, you're probably right but second hand parts are really rare and hard to get hold of. So not the best choice for a track bike and I'd get more for the parts.

Fortunately I'm not in a rush, I've got until April next year to find a deposit for the next bike.

Just to let you know that some crank cases are for sale on ebay right now.

Cheers Yammy, much appreciated.

But 2,3 and 4 gears are worn out, plus the stator I fitted last year is already on it's last legs. When you add it all up it isn't worth it, triumph want 300 quid for the gaskets alone!

There is a gearbox on there too. How many miles it done?

34K ish. I've costed it all out and the only viable way of getting back on the road is buying a complete second hand engine and they're like hen's teeth. Plus you don't know what your buying. Sandy says a reconditioned engine if you could find one would be around a grand an a half and he's seen one in 10 years.

Shame really as the rest of the bike is in mint, but it's time to move on. If I didn't need the money for a deposit I'd have it mounted and put it on the wall.

Good decision made Monty. Time to move on and start another thread..."what bike is Monty going to buy in 2015" and no it can't be an old one of Cornish's.

You around at the weekend Cornishman? We're in Hampton Court on Sunday and Monday and wouldn't mind popping in for a coffee and a looky at those new Ducati 848 kitchen tops!

Defo buddy. Be great to see you both. Mondays a good time if that suits bro. Enjoy your time this weekend without the little ones! Oh and no making more of them or you'll have to move to India.

Yep, I've considered everything!

If I bought all of his bits an then ordered all of the bearings, oil seals, gaskets, gear box pins etc from Triumph, I'd be up in the 2K territory!

The only viable way is finding a complete engine from a trusted source.
