I read that John Redwood wasn't standing, I'm sure there was a cheer across the whole area.

It would seem there is broad agreement that the UK has a financial reckoning on the horizon.

If we rejoin the EU we'll be so poor we'll get a few billion in hand outs.

Tories plan to cut spending on public services by 10% across the board. Most of them are already on the brink of collapse.

It’s a 12 month wait for cases to be heard in many Crown courts so I was told earlier this week. How is that justice?

I tried to call HMRC yesterday, waited one hour on hold before they cut me off without speaking to anyone.

I see the Tories are making sure more youngsters vote against them.

I see what you are getting at, but wouldn't almost anyone who would be effected by the implementation not actually be voting in this upcoming election.?

I doubt many 18 year olds would understand that.

Again its like nearly every Tory promise made....it never happens...excpet the one that has f*cked the Country - Brexit!

17 year olds can't vote. But their siblings, friends and family can.

The old national service wasn't limited to 18 year olds, if this is brought in they'll expand it.

But the main issue is that this national service scheme is taking away funds for the youth. £1.5bn.

So you're right, StMarks, but only if you think this proposed policy will just have an impact on people who are presently 17 or younger.

TBH mate, I was simply being a bit pedantic. Fwiw what I actually think , is that this is simply pre-election bluster. The beginning of a bunch of "attention grabbing" announcements that we're going to see the tory machine churning out on the run up to the (Scottish) independence day vote.

If the Con' party genuinely believed it was a viable and affordable proposition that our society would get behind, they would have had 16 years to have implemented it.

I agree. There's absolutely no chance of them bringing it in. No one in the armed forces wants it.
