I wonder if Birdie switched to Ducati this year to be in the prime seat for running a new v4 superbike next season.

I think that is a decent assumption, Blade.
It seemed a strange decision to run Panigales this year as the bike will always struggle to be competitive under BSB rules. Only rider of Shakey's ability has made it work.
