What do you guys think of Private Plates?

Ideally I would get R9 CAV or LCR (Lewis Cavanagh Racing)... 22nd birthday present for myself?

I'm not a fan. I've never seen the point.

Too identifiable of there is a problem and also pretentious. Not for me either.

Similar views here, plus a good mate had K31TH B on his van for years, but he got stopped twice in a year and was told unless he restored it to the legal spacing he was going to lose it, he flogged it and the money is going towards his dream car, a '53 F100 that's currently mid Atlantic.

Tbh it's a bit of a con, DVLA are quite happy to take the money for these plates, and yet if you use it as intended you can lose it? How is that right?

Well I'm in the chav camp then I as me and missus have one each.

Wouldn't bother again though as real pita when you sell the vehicle.

I quite like them as long as they are simple and not in some stupid font made out to spell something else

Mine are completely road legal in respect to the font and spacing. As you say Perks some can be tasteless if using silly fonts and tbh your just asking for a pull of old bill too.

Ive seen XJ05PUD which is only £173 and I'm half tempted .. especially as the 'fun adjusters' name is Joanne but as already mentioned, is it worth the tug for the police as I'd have it spaced as

I do like the private plates that look like a normal plate because you can tell it is private but it doesn't stand out too much: XJ05 PUD. Although, obviously to everyone else they aren't going to realise your nickname is SPUD.

I do like the R9 LCX though.. While R9 is specific to the bike it wouldn't look out of place on a car or another bike either. Could even get it transferred to a company car if I felt like it

I have a vanity plate with all 3 initials for when I was going to buy a car from a dealer in Glasgow. It was a 3l V6 Jag and the start of the plate is V666 then my 3 initials. Before I was due to collect the car though he emailed me to tell me that he's had it inspected and all the suspension was knackered. Gutted. Can't even use it on my bike 'cause my VFR is a P reg. Does that mean I have to get another bike to stick the plate on??

I nearly brought a plate for Deany last year, but my bigotry against personal plates made me hesitate, so by the time I had decided to splash out the £ 250 someone else had already brought it. So, no D4 DNY for Deany,

D4 DNY If I squint that just becomes DANDY to me.
My dad always had a personalised plate but I personally prefer the anonymity of a normal plate.
