Thats a horrible feeling - the only way i tended to get rid of that was to sleep tbh. Maybe thats the standing still bitBlade wrote:Literally planes, trains and automobiles

Re: What ails you today?
Part of my salary package with work is income protection and medical insurance so it’s worked out pretty well, but still out of pocket about AU$35K so far.C00kiemonster wrote:

You've certainly been through it. How does the being paid while off ill thing work in Aus? Do you have a limit before you need to be back at it?
I’m getting 75% of my salary for up to 2 yrs with the income protection but there is a cap, and I’m going to hit that in 2 months. That’ll mean I get paid nothing till August (1 year) or I get back out to work.
But I’m not going to push and go out before I’m 100% certain my body can handle it. I’ve still got money I can access to get me through and would rather increase my mortgage slightly than lose my ability to earn at all by being impatient.
When I got made redundant from Shell I never touched the money. Went into my offset mortgage account and has sat there for 6 yrs. survived the divorce because the ex also had a equal redundancy sitting there. People over the time have given me sh*t for not splashing out. Ive pretended the money isn’t there and saved independently of that money for things I wanted. And this is exactly why.
Rainy days do happen, so they are worth saving for. If that money wasn’t there to help me through I’d have no one to blame but myself.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

Re: What ails you today?
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it already, as I have been too lazy to read every post, but meditation is what you need. Guided meditation, is good, breath, listen relax, twice a day 10-15 mins in the morning same again at night.Cav wrote:I'll try and find it on ITV player tonight.. could be useful.
Thanks all. Each morning for the last 2 weeks I've genuinely contemplated pulling a sicky and been very close to doing it. When I do get a day off I don't want to be productive because I need to relax and unwind.
I appreciate the support
I do it every day, especially lately, no need to sit crossed legged chanting Om's, I do this lying on my back in bed.
If your mind wonders bring it back to the guided meditation subject, if you fall asleep, ( I do often) on the longer ones, in the evening even better.
The is the most basic and simple thing, as well as correct breathing exercises, will work wonders for you mind.
I think the new term everyone seems to use is mindfullness

Re: What ails you today?
In a way, I find running is doing the whole mindfulness thing for me at the minute. Today was a crap day - I had very little motivation and I was exhausted. I got home from work, went for a run, cleaned my car and now I'm sat about to do more of my dissertation. My mind feels fairly free now
You're right though, if nothing else I need to make time for my well being. I actually really like it when I get to sit down at the dining room table before work and do nothing for 5 minutes. No phone. No noise. No screens.

Breathe in to a count of three, hold for a count of four and breathe out to a count of five. Its a great yoga technique.
I have been doing yoga once a week for the last three years now. Good fun, good for the mind and body and the teacher is a great laugh.

9 seconds without breathing? I'd die!
My resting heart rate is usually mid 40s but my breath holding ability is terrible. I can't wash the shampoo from my hair in one breath

I'm not sure why but I've always been terrible at holding my breath - I think it's a mental thing.
My cardio health is very good and I'm not an unfit person; I'm a slow breather and have a low resting heart rate. My lung capacity is very good too so I don't really understand it

Fighting off man flu. I seem to have been bordering on having a cold for a few days now. Both my wife and my daughter have had it.

Get on the meds now! I had a really bad cold for about 2 days but it lingered over about 5 days total. I got on the medicines straight away and I think it helped

You do a lot of running, you're young, low heart-rate, non-smoker, etc.
You've no excuse.

Morton's Neuroma.
A quick Google will tell you everything you need to know.
Briefly, nerves rubbing between the 3rd and 4th metatarsol causing inflammation. It feels like there's a stone underneath the skin of my foot so walking is very painful. The pain is sufficient enough to question if I broke it.
