My favorite role of his was his intentionally hammed-up & refreshingly humorous rendition of the Sheriff of Nottingham.

As Griff Rhys Jones once said, we are all ephemeral.

It would be nice if the BBC would recognise that Rickman did a lot more than appear in Harry Potter.

He was great in so many things, but like StM for me his best was in Robin Hood, although sadly most of that performance ended up on the cutting room floor c/o Mr Costner's ego.
Mrs Gee's favourite was in Truly Madly Deeply, Mini Gee's was naturally as Severus Snape, every one was a masterpiece of character acting and a joy to watch, brilliant actor and he'll be missed in this corner of the world.

Absolutely gutted when I heard this news. He was a great part of my childhood and as I've now been made aware he was in many films; many of which I will be aiming to see.

69years is so young these days.. :/

Let's just pause for a minute and appreciate Ms Weaver's cleavage in that film.

It's what Alan would have wanted.

RIP to this great actor. It such a shame, all the greats are passing on. Like I have said in the David Bowie thread we are loosong the greats and are moving into throw aways. Such a shame to see Professor Snape pass away
