7.5 miles on the trail again tonight with the group.
For some odd reason, I'm feeling a little tired now..

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've slowly got suckered into the distance, the marathon training this year really helped. I'm signed up for a spring marathon and a 50k ultra in July already, so the distance is only going to get more nutz next year..kiwikrasher wrote:You’re a running nutter, seriously don’t know how you do it. Re: The new improved fitness thread
10k trail race this morning. Never raced 10k trail before so had no idea how to pace it, went flat out and only missed my road PB by 5 seconds. 49:20, happy with that. Seems like all the distance training hasn't killed my pace on the shorter distances

So I've not been to the gym for 2 or 3 weeks (can't keep track).
From my knee being too bad to having two different bouts of illness I've not done anything, it feels miserable

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I went last Friday with my PT and did some fairly standard exercises to use as markers for my strength. I really didn't want to go as I was tired but once in the gym my mindset changed and I hit a few PBs. I rarely bother with bench press and when I do it I tend to do the same weights, never more than 50kg. Did 6 reps of 65kg before needing a spot. Leg press is usually around 240kg and I hit 295kg. My PT told me to do 4 to 6 on that weight and I managed 10, so I can clearly hit through the 300kg when I want to. Upper row was 110kg and I did well on the lat pull down and hamstring curl.
Just goes to show how important your mental approach is when it comes to training.

Mental approach is most of a work out, mind-muscle connection is probably second most important.
Impressive leg press, you'd get 320kg for 3 I'd imagine, maybe 5. I love how impressive that much weight looks on the press, I once did 400kg and there were no plates left for anyone else and no space left on the machine for more weight haha. Only did that the once!!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
There's a video on Youtube of a guy using the same leg press I was on. It had 700kg on it.
If I can do 320kg by the end of January I'll be happy with that.
I need to see what I can squat when I've got a spotter with me.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've never squatted with a spotter, I prefer the safety bars and to crouch out of the way. I've done 180kg that way but don't feel safe having someone behind me
You could get 320kg today, Kwacky. 20kg extra on the leg press isn't that much... ESPECIALLY if you can do 10 reps already. I'd be surprised if you didn't manage 3-5 at 320kg today

I'll see how I feel next time I do leg press. If it's going well I'll go for 300+

Bin gym, innit
Back and chest - compound exercises with light weight high rep supersets inbetween. I'm battered. Time for a beer.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've changed gyms. I didn't like the Easy Gym so I wasn't going. I've joined the gym I've been training at with my PT. It's very basic but everyone in there is friendly, the lack of dickheads makes a difference. The owner is laid back and he's always there.
Did another session with my PT last night. Medium weights long rep sets. It's amazing how quickly your body gets used to doing a certain range and how quickly my muscles were tiring after the standard 10 reps.
Fat % test next week, which I'm not looking forward to.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Went for a run last night, was supposed to be 12 miles but didn't go according to plan.
At about 6 miles we had to run through a flooded bridge, my foot slipped on the edge of the curb and I went down like a sack of crap. Fortunately I've only rolled it, but it's really swollen and write painful.
It had better be fixed by Sunday as I have a race, and I'm 6 miles off 800 miles this year!

Aww that’s crap luck Jon! Doesn’t sound overly good but do the RICE treatment (Raise, ice, crompress, elevate) and hopefully it’ll be on the mend. 2 days till a race might be a big ask though

I've had a compression sock on all day and I can almost walk without a limp now. Hopeful that with compression and pain killers I should be able to run Sunday. It is trail, and the ground is nice and soft.
