We can thank the new WSBK rules for part of that. It's good for consumers I think for sure.Blade wrote:

Re: New Ducati 955
Using my simple maths. Ducati if retaining the 100mm bore of the 899 would only have to increase the stroke by 3.6mm to 60.8mm to increase capcity to 955cc.
A technique they have used to great effect many times in the 916 era.
It would be financial suicide for a small manufacturer like Ducati to develop an all new engine for a limited market so stroking the existing power plant is a very easy and obvious solution and if true has probably always been in the design from the very outset.

Re: New Ducati 955
I'd say very unlikely Blade, that would increase the piston speed and potentially reduce the RPM. Plus it's exactly the opposite of what they've done with the 1299.

Re: New Ducati 955
Pretty much confirmed there is a new Panigale or update of some description due asap.
Apparently fast bikes have been invited to a Ducati bike launch at a foreign track event in September.
My money is on an 899 EVO with more power and a few tweeks to keep it fresh.
