When and what do you think you will get ?
I'd have changed it by now but the last few months have been up in the air due to a few issues, which are sorted now. I've got some bling left but most of it has gone now.

I'm going shopping later this week :)

I'm going to test (if the frenchies let me):
Yamaha MT-07.
Yamaha MT-09
Ducati 899 panigale
Ducati hypermotard/hyperstrada
Triumph Street triple
BMW 1000r (same as frankies)

Bit of a mix, but I'll know the bike I want when I ride it. If I find one I really love then I'll buy it and leave the rest tbh.

I love the RC but it's too much for the roads, especially here. If I lived on the iom then it would be perfect :). Insurance is steep here as it blows the power limits out the water too.

Some good choices there Cookie and a very varied range.

Is France limited to 100 bhp?

Just over 100hp, however the amount of sports bikes over here that don't sound crippled suggests to me there is a lot of remapping tbh.

From what I understand France is going to drop the restriction soon as they were the only country in Europe to adopt the European directive on motorbike power anyway tbh.

Another way round the law is to import the bike and reregister it, which is what I did with the RC. Bizarrely buying the same bike in france means it's got a crippled map on it.

Most of the above don't really have a problem with the power limits anyway, plus I might buy it from the UK and import it if it's cheaper anyway.

Sounds like the French have shot the selves in the foot.

They have crippled there bike market by making it more attractive for French customers to import.

If your not restricted on power the s1000rr and 899 sound great chocise

It would seem the 899 may be due an update at the end of this year. Ducati are now offering £750 worth of goodies with every new one registered which usually means a revised bike is on the horizon.

If they put the 1299 electronics on it I might have to wait and persuade Jane she needs one of those :)

Would be good if they did but being realistic I'll be surprised as I imagine that's a big chunk of the price difference.

Plus not sure its needed tbh.

I can't see there being an S edition in all honesty. They didn't do one with the 848 until it was being run out for the 899. Also i suspect they would prefer there to be a noticeable price difference from that to the 1299.

That are a lot of rumours around that they are currently working on a Desmo V4 to replace the Panigale. They have hinted that in terms of an outright performance superbike they have taken a V2 as far as they can.

Cookie I know you suggested the s1000rr but have you considered the new s1000xr ? Frankie lived it and seems to be getting alot of good reviews and maybe the ideal bike for rural France ?

@Duke a v4 desmo sounds awesome, please tell more (happy)

Winter 2013 and 14 the 899 was offered with free termis so I'd probably expect the same this winter. £1k+ that exhaust! Internatter suggests the termis might even be quieter than oem.
