Re: Ducati Superleggera Mk 2 - 215bhp
They'll all end up in bike collections...take out once or twice "just because"...some bike journos will get to try them, and then let you know what you're missing out on, because everyone has that amount of cash laying idly around, etc.
I'm all for that sort of thing.....other 'innovative stuff' will eventually trickle down to the masses, and then some dickwad at a trackday on some POS will tell you that his bike is "race-inspired"....and I'll be inspired to laugh openly, etc.

I love it when these dickwads, as you so eloquently put it, ride their brand new bike on the circuit with their 6-way inertia unit giving them the maximum power for any given lean and they give it all the big balls talk in the paddock. When you see them out on track and you're keeping up with them with 30,000 miles on your engine, 80bhp deficit and bald tyres it is the most satisfying feeling.

Fair points though not all these bikes end up in collections. A trip to JHP over winter confirms how many of the Desmosedicis get a good few thrashings round tracks every year. They even run their own track days for them.Cav wrote:I love it when these dickwads, as you so eloquently put it, ride their brand new bike on the circuit with their 6-way inertia unit giving them the maximum power for any given lean and they give it all the big balls talk in the paddock. Sadly I will never be in a position to either thrash a Superleggera round a track nor be running at the fast end on a track day.
Only a bit of Tankslap banter, Cav.

Re: Ducati Superleggera Mk 2 - 215bhp
There's no way I'll ever find 65k to spend on a bike and wouldn't dare take it any where near a track if I could. I do love that fact that companies like Ducati make them though.

Re: Ducati Superleggera Mk 2 - 215bhp
Not that I ever was going to buy a Superleggera but I got an insurance quote and on a 1500 mile a year limited policy last year and it was 2 grand

If spending £60k on a motorbike isn't an issue, then using it on a track isn't likely to be either.

You don't need to excuse your banter guys... I can take it like the female I am !! I love to feel the wind on my vagina haha
It is nice when you see these expensive bikes on the track though and the vast majority are real nice guys with a great attitude to life - "it's only money"
I'd be happy with race suspension

Re: Ducati Superleggera Mk 2 - 215bhp
I'd far sooner see one even be pootled round a track by a numpty than sat in a glass case doing Sweet FA.
Last few months in PB mag they have tested a Panigale R, Panigale Superleggera and the Honda RCV roadbike, all both on road and track and ridden by Michael Rutter. Love seeing bikes made for that, being used like that.

And next years' road tests should be even more epic with the new Fireblade, GSXR1000RR and ZX10 homologation bikes available.

Re: Ducati Superleggera Mk 2 - 215bhp
£2k isn't a bad quote considering the price of the bike and the costs if you crashed it.

Yeah your right Kwacky. That was with Ducati specialist insurance. With a comparison site using typical brokers it was 8000
