Triumph Daytona 600 that's breaking the bank

So I bought a Daytona 600 which has been nothing but trouble. Stalled on the way home from buying it and wouldn't start, wouldn't bump start, would turn over from a jump but then cut out as soon as the revs went below 4000.

Took it to a bike shop who replaced the stator generator and said the regulator was fine, 2 weeks later and it won't start without easy start being sprayed in the air intake and a jump / fresh charged battery.

Any ideas what could be the issue?

Was it a private sale or dealer?

Could be anything from poor wiring, bad fuel, ECU issues...

Could be a whole host of things. My advice would be to start with getting an OBD of eBay (about 7 quid) and downloading TuneECU (free).

From there you can reset the TPS and various other bits and bobs before spending any serious money.

I had the stalling and poor starting, turned out to be perished intake rubbers letting in air and leaning out the mixture

That could be an option and was my thought also especially after you mentioned the easy start

Either that or the throttle bodies need balancing are my thoughts.

If from a trader take it back and ask for a full refund.

It's not fit for purpose which the Sale of Goods Act 1979 clearly states is has to be. You are fully protected and within your rights to demand a full refund. Right a letter stating such and quoting the above Act and you will be reimbursed.

Had to do the same myself and it works.

My advice would be to get rid of it (sorry will get heckled for not supportive)

I had a Daytona 600 and I did break the fking bank!!

In one year 5 stators and 3 reg/rec and 2 batteries.. !!

Your symptoms sounds just as woeful!! From memory there is a tiny drainage pipe or hole in the stator housing that potential gets blocked and so overheats the stator and ends up getting fried..

If you replace the stator I'd been keen to know how many times has it already been replaced as it was a common moan!

Rant over...

Feel like have a nervous tick whenever I hear Daytona 600 ( similarly to inspector cluso boss)

However I hear he Daytona 650 didn't have these problems ( I had the 600)

If possible I recommend getting your money back or threaten to sue!

Get rid. I'd you're spending money on it now it won't stop! Some bikes aren't worth the hassle. unless you are going to do the work and keep it off road for winter while it gets repaired.
