Re: Mr Postman
With 3 weeks left in Cyprus, I finally got my first parcel from home!
A pair of work shorts (although it's not really hoy enough to want to wear shorts at work any more).
Spare contact lenses (please contain your excitement)!
A bag of foam shrimp sweets (swiftly eaten in about half an hour).
A pack of Biscoff biscuits (which is following the shrimp rapidly)
Drawings from the kids and a photo of the dog.
It's not much, but it's plenty.

Re: Mr Postman
My daughter Jorja draws me a new picture to take Offshore each trip and it goes up on the wall in my bunk space. Like you say, it’s not much physically, but it makes a big difference mentally.
Hope the last stretch goes fast mate

This "Log Store" that you've been mentioning, sounds like it must be more than just some tatty roof cladding sheets propped up on old bits of scaffolding.Deegee wrote:Threaded inserts for wood, so I can use some antiluce fasteners (arrived yesterday) on my log store.

Re: Mr Postman
It is a little more than that St M, I am certainly no wood specialist, other than chucking it into a fire that is, but I'm reasonably happy with what I've done so far, I've still got to add in a drying shelf for kindling and some removable shutter boarding at the front to keep any rain or snow off the logs, but it's finding a couple of hours here and there to finish it when other things demand my time.StMarks wrote:This "Log Store" that you've been mentioning, sounds like it must be more than just some tatty roof cladding sheets propped up on old bits of scaffolding.Deegee wrote:Threaded inserts for wood, so I can use some antiluce fasteners (arrived yesterday) on my log store.
Are you hinting that yours is made of roof cladding and scaff poles?

But upgraded after the storms we had a month or so back.Deegee wrote:Are you hinting that yours is made of roof cladding and scaff poles?
The old cladding sheets are now retained by lengths of binder-twine tied down to some hollow concrete blocks.

Re: Mr Postman
I've got a mate who's a HETAS engineer fitting wood burners and he says for a wood store you want the wind to blow around the wood and to get it off the floor if possible on a couple of pallets or the like. If it's on the floor it just rots and doesn't burn as well.

Re: Mr Postman
My very cheap carbon fiber car wallet from China. To be fair I would of thought the carbon fiber would of been fake but it looks pretty real and also nice and light. This will do the trick for my ride out instead of carrying a massive wallet around
