Without a doubt. It's pretty poor going. 400 people sent in objections to the planning application.

Back and shoulders this evening.
Got talking to one of the instructors. Poor bastards having to spend Christmas knowing they're going to lose their jobs.

56 pull ups (target 50)
Tricep Dips superset with 1 leg weights squats (12kg)

Re: The new improved fitness thread
My gym has been shut for a couple of days due to lack of running water. I made it there on Boxing day only to find it shut. I didn't get chance yesterday so I'll make a visit today.

She won't thank me tomorrow.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've been continuing to increase the volume of my training sessions and have continued with my progress.. I'm actually starting to become shock by my own strength considering the minimal amount of time in the gym.
I've also started swimming again as my Gf's mum is in training for a 5k swim so I'm going along for moral support. I did 50 lengths in under 30 minutes - only 1 quarter of the distance... haha

I need to review my back and shoulder routine as it's taking almost an hour and a half to do.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
So, after a rather pathetic attempt at a 10 mile cross country race on new years eve I've decided I need to get my running form back...
To help with motivation I've just signed up for a 16 mile point-to point race on the 2nd of April.
It's an attempt at a distance pb, and it's also quite strict. Of you haven't covered 12 miles in 2:30 your out!

From your previously results you should run inside that cut of easily. Good luck!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Cheers mate. I hope I can keep the pace, it's a long route and I haven't checked out the course profile yet.kiwikrasher wrote:From your previously results you should run inside that cut of easily. Good luck!
I know a few others from the club well be running so if I can get my pace up I should have some company. Stage 1 is to train to a 9:30 m/mile for 5 miles, then up that to 10...

That sounds doable to a non-runner like me.D6Nutz wrote: It's an attempt at a distance pb, and it's also quite strict. Of you haven't covered 12 miles in 2:30 your out!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Got the all-clear from the ERI today to get back in the gym.
He's also put me on a walk/run program, which I shall be mostly ignoring, and a controlled landing program, which apparently is a graduated way of getting my joints used to the impact again.
Which I will also probably be ignoring.
I haven't got time to mess about walking and jumping, I've got my fitness test to take in 3 weeks. 3 or 4 months of no gym work and the hedonism of Christmas has done nothing but expand my waistline and destroy my aerobic capacity.
Guess I'd better get started!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Explosive weight workouts and HIIT such as hill sprints will get you back into shape (and probably puking) in no time at all...
That plus the weekly swim/run will help you for certain

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Doubtless I'll be puking if I do any high intensity work, but I guess I don't have much choice for 3 weeks.
Think I'll do a bag session tonight.
