You'll be fine. My old instructor used to say if you're not ready for a grading we won't let you take it.

So fingers crossed your instructor has the same idea.

Back to the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks. Did a mix of stuff to get back into it.

I played 20 minutes of football on Saturday to see how my hamstring coped.. it did rather well actually.

Thursday/Friday I did some roller work on it followed by a gentle run and more roller work.

Sunday was time for my massage - rather lovely it was. Even on my hamstring I can feel that it was better without too much pain

Went to the gym last night but it was shut - no water

Circuit work at taekwondo. I managed to hold out until the last exercise before the headache came screaming in.

I'm full of cold and barely managing work so gym is a no-go for me unfortunately.

Got in from work last night and slept for 2 hours

Sports massage. My upper back was in bits. Hopefully I'll feel the benefit in a day or two.

Legs and core. Struggled with squats but leg press was pretty good.

Sure you will. You just have to believe to achieve!

Although I'm not sure it's the best body to aspire to...

No wonder I struggle to find a helmet which fits.

Went to the gym yesterday afternoon. It was nice and quiet so after doing chest and arms I did some core work.

Cramp in your abs isn't a good look in the gym.

Legs and core yesterday.

For those of you who do rope crunches, do you face towards the cable rack or away from it? I always face away, which is the way I've been shown, but most seem to face towards it. I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Haven't been to the gym in ages, it's pissing me off.

Haven't done rope crunches in even longer, but I used to do them facing the machine. I reckon biomechanically there will be little difference between the two. Somebody somewhere will no doubt insist the two different ones place strain on different areas of the abs, or some other such reasoning.

The way I see it, facing away will place more load on the abs as you go down because you're also moving further away from the load as well. But the difference in my mind would be minimal.

When I used to have a PT he taught me away. He said there was little difference but if I wanted to I could use part of the rep (at the start) to stretch the lower back. I think so long as you curl up from the abs then you're doing the right exercise. The seated ab cruncher has you with the weight behind you and you pull that forward so it can't be the wrong way to do it IMO.

Well the council have just approved plans to demolish my gym and replace it with a Lidl.

No idea where I'll go when that closes. Fitness First is about 150 yards from my house. The nearest gym is crap and about 2 or 3 miles away.

Stupid decision.

That sucks.

Can your trainer recommend anywhere or is he attached to the gym?

I don't train with anyone, just me on my own. I see a PT now for sports massage. She's freelance.

There's a boxing gym nearby but I've no idea what it's like. I'll have to take a look.

You wouldn't mind if stirchley was short of other space to build supermarkets - but it isn't. Short sighted.

I imagine someone perhaps has had a backhander? Just a theory - allegedly.
