Has anybody used wheel cleaner as a decontamination bodywork cleaner? I cannot find anything to say this is a good or bad idea.

I have Autoglym Custom Wheel cleaner (great on the wheels by the way) which is a safe acid-free cleaner.. just wondered if it's safe on the bodywork.

It should be, but key is that it doesnt dwell on the paintwork for long. I have some bilberry wheel cleaner I've used on the sills before.

Okay that's cool. I've got some stubborn blobs on the sides on the car.

I'll have to give the car a quick detail spray afterwards I think as it will probably damage the sealer but Ive not long put the sealer on so dont want to double coat the rest of the car

Detail spray will do it.

Oh also I discovered yesterday you cant rev a DSG gearbox beyond 4k when it's in neutral - try it :D

I remember it being limited to 2500 in my mums diesel DSG a few years back.

In manual cars you can get past the soft limiter when stationary by going into reverse. I doubt that works in a DSG though haha.

I haven't looked if theres any type of launch control in mine. It accelerates quickly enough though, surprisingly so actually. 7.6 to 60

I believe your car launches quicker without LC.. it just wheel spins when using LC from the videos I've seen. BUT... you get a nice popcorn limiter sound with LC though which is worth it haha

Anyway back to detailing, I did the leather today.

Used some AG stuff I've been using on the wifes car for years in the end. The stuff I was going to use might not be good on aniline leather according to an email from the manufacturer.

I'm not 100% sure whether the Merino leather is a semi aniline leather tbh as I cant find a definitive answer anyway so did a test with AG and proved OKso used what I had.

Nice.. are you happy with the results? Was it the Autoglym Leather Cleaner and Care Balm?

What did you use for application? I was planning on using a soft detailing brush for the cleaner then a cloth/towel for care balm

Yes happy with results and yes AG leather cleaner followed by the Balm.

Used a soft cotton cloth to apply the cleanser and wiped off with a damp microfibre cloth. The Balm I put on with a AG perfect polish cloth and buffed with a microfibre.
