Apple Charger
Just got my lad an Ipod Touch for his birthday and unfortunately it doesn't come with any mains charging facility.
Need a little advice as I'm Android based and so is his mum.
Are all ipod, iPhone chargers universal ?
Do I just need a 5watt USB to 3 pin plug adapter ?
Cheers for any help that can be offered.

Re: Apple Charger
AFAIK all Apple products currently use the same lead which I assume came with it? Any USB plug should then do. You could even charge it off your laptop/xbox etc if you wanted just by connecting it up.

Re: Apple Charger
USB hook up via a computer/laptop will work but the charging is slow.
Apple do cut and change their chargers but as Andy says the latter models all use the same one. I would get a model specific one and make sure it's an Apple one or from a trusted manufacturer. They're not cheap but the copies can be poor quality which at the best means slow charging and at worse potential damage to the battery (very very rare but it has happened)
Both Apple and Andriod companies are now sending out phones and tablets without chargers on the basis that we've already got them from previous devices. They've clearly not lived in my house, where chargers go MIA after about 3 months service.

Re: Apple Charger
Mate I've got hundreds! I'll bring one out with me on the next ride out.
I don't use the standard chargers anymore, just one of these

Re: Apple Charger
Yes very good, they adjust the current to suit the device so most tablets and phones charge at their max rate.Kwacky wrote:Are those Anker multi port systems any good?

That's the business! I'm buying one tomorrow.
Jess is going to regret offering to pick up all my offshore internet shopping from the post office for me. This will be pickup 6 and I'm not quite half way through my swing

If you've got an Android phone with quick charge, you might be better off with this oneKwacky wrote:I'll order one. Thanks.

Re: Apple Charger
The wall sockets with USB charging sockets are worth a look, we've replaced a couple of sockets with these at ours, we put them in the places where phones and iPads etc were most frequently charged, plus it then frees up the plug for other uses.

Re: Apple Charger
I've been looking at those too. What would be even better if they could design one with retractable cables so they don't have to clutter up surfaces or you keep having to hunt round the house to find one.Deegee wrote:The wall sockets with USB charging sockets are worth a look, we've replaced a couple of sockets with these at ours, we put them in the places where phones and iPads etc were most frequently charged, plus it then frees up the plug for other uses.

Re: Apple Charger
Good point, the only downer is which plug do you have on the end of said retractable cable, we use Apple regular and Apple Lightning, I guess we'd need an adapter to convert it......
Fwiw, we've found that a cable coiled up is tidier than a charger and cable in a tangle.
