And the North West 200 to concentrate on a mountain bike race.

Similar chance of him winning to the last few years, then. :D

I sense yet another TV series in the pipeline

His road racing career is pretty much done I suspect. As usual too many things going on and not enough focus on any of them.

Sad, but I won't miss him really.

Looks like Guy won't be doing the TT

Seems that Guy is not doing the TT this year, sad to read, but there are still plenty of great riders who will be new and old. Shame he never got the win he wanted, but you never know 8)

I lost a lot of respect for Martin when he had his whingey little pop at Hutchy.

Yeah, yeah. You've got the sideys and the legions of female fans, but you're still not James Hunt.

Come back when you've won something. :D

I doubt he needs the TT these days anymore than it needs him.

Probably not. Nevertheless, in TT terms, he'll always be that guy who wasn't quite good enough.

Playing devils advocate, i suspect it may hit sponsorship revenue a little when he leaves for good, just as Rossi retiring will have a huge effect on Motogp sponsorship revenue.

To be fair, if that crash he had in the Ulster GP didn't make him reassess some of his life, there would be something seriously missing from his brain.

Very true.

Despite my arsing here, I do actually like Martin. It's difficult not to, isn't it?

But these days, he's more of a celeb than a racer. In a way, one can't blame him for looking at other options for a career.

He's a personable chap and comes across very well on TV. I'm sure there's more money in that than in racing.

its only 1 TT he's done the last 11 and I'm pretty sure he will return in the future , given the opportunity wouldn't we all broaden our horizons a little and try something new and/or different .

And it's marginally safer, too.

Until he's on I'm A Celebrity, anyway. :D

Jack, I understand your argument but it's not like the TT ties up him for a year.

Is he still working as a truck mechanic? Presumably not...

thats true but the mountain bike race he wants to do is on at the same time so he's made a choice , he can only get so much time off from work after all .
