A good reason not to bother with a laser jammer
I bet this guy is regretting his actions now.

It is better to arrive 30 seconds late in this world than 30 years early in the next

Yeah, he should just leave his jammer to do it's work & simply ignore the speed cameras like everyone else does.D41 wrote: What a douche.

I think it fair to say there have been a lot worse things happen that strike at the heart if the Justice system than that.
Like the fact the Govt have just appointed the head of Kwikfit to turn the courts into digital video links rather than having proper Courts rooms.

Rather silly chap tbh.
I thought Garage openers were laser jammers by accident and therefore serve a legitimate purpose as there primary use is opening a electric garage door????

Does seem a bit Draconian, doesn't it??Kwacky wrote:He's a grade A tool, but 8 months for that?
I think the "perverting the course of justice"-part probably sealed his fate.
He'll be out in a fortnight.

The punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime but either way, what an idiot! Would have been better off speeding and getting a fine!

Ha ha seriously, a little harsh for the crime .... but it seems these sort of crimes which hit the headlines always have this sort of punishment out of proportion....was the camera van in the same place every time ?

8 months what a joke. Stabbing the heart of justice. The only joke here is our system .

Re: A good reason not to bother with a laser jammer
He sped past the police THREE times sticking his finger up at them while using his jammer. Even then he'd have probably been ok if he'd admitted it when interviewed but he denied it then went home and tried to destroy the jammer and didn't even make a very good job of that. What did he think was going to happen?
Totally agree with "don't poke the bear!"

Re: A good reason not to bother with a laser jammer
I've always wondered how easy it would be to fit a jammer properly in a car that you couldnt find. Most of them just plug into a 12v socket, but hidden in the car properly i doubt they would be able to find it.
Bloke was a knob but 8 months is stupid considering the pricks out there getting away with all sorts and they get a small and non deterrent punishment.

Re: A good reason not to bother with a laser jammer
Fwiw it would be a pretty simple to install a jammer that is hard wired to the Aux system.C00kiemonster wrote:I've always wondered how easy it would be to fit a jammer properly in a car that you couldn't find.....
However of course, it would always be inherently detectable therefore discoverable..
Isn't a much cheaper and more rational solution is to simply adhere to the posted speed limits.? After-all they exist for the common good, not actually to frustrate us.
That or a numberplate with LCD lettering that fades out on demand..

Dont poke the bear agree.
8 months is ridiculous. Heavy fine and long ban or suspended sentence.
Burglary, vehicle crime is rife yet no one gets send down for that. Insurance pays out so it's seen as victimless crime.

Re: A good reason not to bother with a laser jammer
I expect Kwacky or TC will pull me up on my outdated view, but as I understand; It is not actually to buy, fit or own one.Blade wrote:Is it illegal to fit a jammer?
It is, however, illegal to use one to avoid detection (attempting to pervert )..

Is there any other purpose they can be used for ?StMarks wrote:
