In respect of the current government (eg Preti Patel), couldn't it also be a bit of an oxymoron.?

Helping out marshaling at Basingstoke half marathon, managed to miss the rain.

Yeah, not bad. The band played really well but the lead singer didn't sound much like Ian Curtis

There's a funny side to this.. bear with.....

A colleague has been having a lot of misfortune lately surrounding both of his parents. His mum passed away recently after (not yet concluded) negligence. She had one of those solo/panic alarms installed in the house and he opened her mail to a letter from the company of said alarm.

It read something like this:

"Dear Mrs 'Mum', We are sorry to hear of your passing. I don't wish to take up too much of your time but would you return your alarm as soon as you are able to"

:?

I don't know if they often hear back from the deceased but they're giving it a great go. Thankfully my colleague saw the funny side of this letter.

Seems like a tough sell.....Joy Division didn't exactly leave a big body of work behind - I don't know how you'd form a tribute band around something like that. Has to be a very er "selective" audience for a band like that.

Well survived yet another 2 weeks in Howard Springs quarantine camp, lost another 2 kg due to the food going down hill again and a bout of gastro.

Offshore now and into my first night shift. The morale out here is at an all time low and we are losing staff at a great rate of knots. The way it's going we will shut down due to a lack of manning well before we run out of gas reserves!

I'm not letting it get to me though, I feel like I'm in the best shape mentally since the pandemic hit. I don't know if I've hit a new level of zen, or I've started to lose my marbles... I'm putting money on the latter (lol)

Being a public forum I won't go into too much detail, but no its only part of the problem. The new company that bought us out has a very different style of management and people skills, and it's not for the better in anyway. It's the first time I am genuinely concerned about safety out here. No at a personal level, but at a process level and maintenance management. We have no future to look forward too, the next project which was going to be company operated, has now been put up for contract tender for design, build and operation. But there is also no hope of redundancy as they have operations all around Australia and they just have to offer a similar role (minus location allowances, about 1/3 of my wages) and if you won't take it (There is no facility they have I could work at and not have to move) then it's on you, they offered you a role. I can't move at all due to custody arrangements I have and also Jess has.

So everyone is just here to earn what they can before it shuts down and survive each swing.
