I went to help get a friends GS500 back on the road after 2 years, the battery had been left on an optimiser but being an old liquid filled battery it had boiled dry. After the usual checks of the fuel tank and carb bowls revealing no grot and the petrol still smelling like petrol, we checked the brakes and oil, all good so we cleaned and freed off all the rollers in the chain.
After removing the battery we connected the battery terminals to my car's battery with jump leads (connections wrapped in bits of towell) and my engine off, checked the electrics then hit the button. After a couple of coughs it was away on both cylinders with a bit of smoke which soon cleared. The front brake light switch was bad so I stripped/cleaned/re-assembled that, it's working for now but a new replacement is under £10 if it fails again.

The final tally was, Front tyre, Battery, 1 indicator bulb, front parking light bulb. Then it should pass the MOT although I want a new set of handlebars on there, it has been dropped and bent the throttle side.

On holiday in Cornwall. Been to Boscastle, Padstow and Port Isaac. Had really thick fog for the past couple of days but today should be a hell of a lot better which is now at the end of our holiday! Our first day was beautiful, 28 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! How did it change so quickly!!

Nice to be away though!

Mate.... I get that feeling of wanting to get home but that is risking never seeing them again.

I’m sure you are aware that not having sleep for over 24 hrs impairs your cognitive function the same as being over the limit on alcohol.

One of the guys offshore tried the same a couple months back after nights and a 5 hr drive and ended up rolling it 5 times. Luckily he was unharmed.

Even a 4-5 hr snooze would be a hell of a lot safer. Hope you have already made it home safe.

Just drink lots of coffee and drive really, really fast... you'll be there in four hours or less & have more time to sleep on the back end.
You know it makes sense. (y)

I've done it countless times guys and always been fine, but appreicate the concern for my well fair.

I'm not a fool and will always stop if I can't continue safely. No risks will or ever would be taken, as you say just not worth it.

So this Quarantine Detention is alcohol free. But we have already been alcohol free for a few weeks offshore.

Now the food here is limited so they allow you to do a supermarket click and collect, and they pick it up and bring it too you. Ordered Wednesday and just got it tonight, Friday.

My neighbour was clever and bought some bakers yeast. Between us we bought 12 L of fruit juice. A few raisins and sugar for nutrient and we’ve successfully cultured a yeast starter.

There is now 12 L of prison grapper bubbling away.

Review in 5-6 days (lol)
