Rossi

Post by Kwacky »

He's going to be missed but it's not like he's leaving the sport empty handed. What a career.

This is still one of my favourites from him. This for me is when he beat Stoner in the mind games.

Probably a good idea that Marquez wasn't there yesterday. Might have been a bit awkward for him.

My uncle hates Rossi. That battle with Marquez done it for him. Also reckons they used to fly in special tyres for Rossi.

Michelin did fly in tyres for Rossi , Bridgestone also flew in tyres for their top riders , it was common practice during the tyre wars and part of the reason it became so expensive and we ended up with a single tyre supplier , I think it was better when we had multiple tyre manufacturers involved .

On the subject of Rossi's legacy I will always remember the early years at Yamaha with Burgess , qualify in 10th and still be confident in winning the race , somehow they always managed to find something on a sunday and it was magical and mesmerising to watch .

One of the best last laps I recall ever seeing..... the only other one that springs immediately to mind was when Rossi took Lorenzo on the last turn & beat him to the line.
LOLZ @ Lorenzo. :D

Donnington last year of the two smokers ,qualified last after a crash .I sat and watched at Craners I could hear the crowd roar as he overtook two riders every lap at the Essess
Two laps to go he got Biaggi on his 4T Yamaha the crowd went wild the emperor sulked ,I remember watching Chris Walker on the Shell Yamaha and thinking how awkward he looked fighting the bike down Craners as he went backwards through the field
If anybody thinks Rossi won races because of special tyres, engines, treatment etc they have never competed in a sport at high level, you get the special treatment when you start winning and need heaps of talent to capitalise on it. He broke Stoner IMO ,he just couldnt handle him.

This was one of his most masterful races.

When i got home from this one, i hung my jacket up in the downstairs loo, and the water just poured off it like a tap turned on, it was that soaking wet.

Rossi crashed at the same place I did at Donny. It stopped me feeling silly about losing the front (lol)

That was an ace day. I got a bollocking for overtaking the instructors. They weren't impressed when I offered them advice about riding in the wet (lol)

Michele Pirro reckons Rossi has told him he will be testing the Team VR46 Ducati when he has an opportunity.
