Not the first time I've done it either

. I rode up to the busy junction at the bottom of the hill where I live. As you get to the junction the road is very uneven and it rises quite sharply at the junction. I approached the junction in 2nd gear and thought I'd shifted down to 1st with the intent of not coming to a standstill but being able to stop if necessary. So, I'm in 1st gear (so I thought) and can see that the road is clear to turn right onto. I open the throttle to find that I'm in neutral

. As I'm on an incline and I'm a short arse the bike starts falling to the side. I can't save it as I'm holding the brake lever and all my weight is on my right side. I couldn't get the bike back straight without losing my balance. So I had to let it go on its side. I picked it up ok and walked back down the incline with it. Luckily no cars came past to see me making an ass of myself
I'm getting too old for this malarkey
