Not the first time I've done it either . I rode up to the busy junction at the bottom of the hill where I live. As you get to the junction the road is very uneven and it rises quite sharply at the junction. I approached the junction in 2nd gear and thought I'd shifted down to 1st with the intent of not coming to a standstill but being able to stop if necessary. So, I'm in 1st gear (so I thought) and can see that the road is clear to turn right onto. I open the throttle to find that I'm in neutral . As I'm on an incline and I'm a short arse the bike starts falling to the side. I can't save it as I'm holding the brake lever and all my weight is on my right side. I couldn't get the bike back straight without losing my balance. So I had to let it go on its side. I picked it up ok and walked back down the incline with it. Luckily no cars came past to see me making an ass of myself
I'm getting too old for this malarkey

Tuffers, we’ve all made an arse of ourselves dropping a bike - I did it in front of a bunch of mates in a trackday paddock.

It’s not if, it’s when. Doubt there’s many on here that haven’t had a under 5mph drop of some kind. I’ve had a few!!
Last on was this time last year, two up, gravel driveway and 2 metres into a 160 km trip.

Bugger, hope the only damage is a bruised ego. Fortunately they fix quite easily.
My favorite drop for a bruised ego was on a petrol station forecourt! I had an issue with my hip at the time and with the full tank of fuel I had to ask someone to help me get the bike back upright

I've dropped 3 bikes now. 2 of them were very minor, the zx6r didn't fair so well.
Glad to hear it wasn't too bad.

Scratched R&G crash bung and put another dent in the can. Hips and back are suffering from lifting it back up. Not easy when you're on a slope and the bike wants to roll back. What a tw@t I amKwacky wrote:I've dropped 3 bikes now. 2 of them were very minor, the zx6r didn't fair so well.

Dropped my 500 learner bike but fortunately it had an industrial strength scaffold around the engine
