One thing is for sure, that certainly will not be Boris nor most of his Cabinet.

I imagine that they have a load of critical/urgent stuff to catch up on before they start clearing the non-urgent procedures off the books, yes??

They don’t have the capacity, either in money or staff, to clear the backlog.

I can't help feeling Australia and NZ have got to up their game when dealing with covid.

I do fully understand why they have taken this decision but isn't it because they are not vaccinating their populations quick enough?

Unless those two countries intend shutting their borders for about 5 years, they will become completely isolated from the rest of the world.

Closing borders should have been done worldwide in January 2020 and everyone needs to do it to isolate the virus...but nobody did until it was too late.

I see Italy are now saying they have found covid antibodies in patients from samples taken back in 2019

I'm still convinced it did the rounds in the UK in late 2019. Loads of people I know, myself included, were laid out with something that lasted for days and took weeks to recover. A really bad cough and no energy were two of the main symptoms.

The evidence the Italians have makes them think that what was doing the rounds in late 2019 was the predecessor to the mutated variant that became the really nasty covid 19 virus.

I was reading a quite fascinating article on the Spanish flu variant 0f 1918 and why it was so deadly. It took them until 2008 or so to work out why. I’ll see if I can find the article.

The vaccine roll out has been absolutely crap in Aussie. I was only eligible for my age group in late June and since then I’ve tried every day to get an appointment. Earliest available atm is October.

The advice in Australia is for under 60’s not to have the AZ due to the blood clotting issues. I talked to my doctor as you can get it 40-60 if you consult with your doctor first. She recommended due to me having to fly away within weeks of getting it not to take the AZ and get Pfizer. It also has less time between shots which means I could get both shots in a break home. But getting a shot of Pfizer seems next to impossible atm.

Current advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group for Immunisation

Unfortunately the Aussie Govt. put all its eggs in one basket and initially only brought in AZ then when the risk of clots was discovered, advice given excluded a large % of the community from taking it.

Pfizer is still arriving but not in larger enough numbers.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.

The people who devised the AZ vaccine were on the radio the other day and they reckon it will be 10 years before covid 19 is seen the same light as the common flu.

That said, that is their guess. There is always the possibility that the vaccines could cause the virus to mutate to become less virulent.

The problem with it is its ability to spread quickly, not the danger to life.

I'm sure it's not going away anytime soon.

A standard and predictable response and measures from the government and some fresh ideas would be easier for everyone though.

The testing and its reporting is so inaccurate you cant rely on it, I can only think its hospital admissions we can really rely on

I take back everything i said about the Australia Covid management.

Any country that has the sense to deport Katie Hopkins deserves full credit.

Now if they could just drop her off in the middle of the ocean thousands of miles from anywhere that would be perfect.

Isn't there a huge island of rubbish in the Pacific? She would fit in perfectly there.
