If we are using hydrogen to power vehicles I think they will be fuel cell based.
I am working on hydrogen fuel cells ,the problem is they are incredibly bulky and large also stupidly expense materials to manufacture with

I don't think that hydrogen is the answer for car's, trucks, buses, trains and even aircraft are better candidates but I know how buses are (not) maintained and the H2 fuel systems used to need replacing periodically.

I'm not sure if anyone has come up with a solution to Hydrogen embrittlement yet, the tiny H2 molecules soak into other materials/metals and make them brittle...
A worst case would be, hit a pothole in an old fuel cell car and the H2 line cracks.

Sorry, my engineering is showing in a political thread... Politics is just depressing.

Our current system of moving people around in urban areas is so ludicrous and out of date.

These sorts of ideas are the future.

All that ^^ does is move the problem underground and out of sight , also harder to reach for emergency services .

Eventually we will move around in vacuum tunnels that require no or very little energy.

I don't see any way back from where we are, even pricing per journey will still be justified.. lift sharing just won't work because you won't be home the nanosecond you think you need to be. There will need to be something more than a minor addition to the cost before habits will change

For longer distance stuff the cost of shared transport has to stack up before it becomes viable.

For example, I'm going to Sheffield more regularly now. Even taking a branch line to reading, then to Paddington, into Euston, before finally Sheffield is actually quicker than driving (just if everything is on time).

To drive there and back, about £40... The train at the same time £170ish.

Because we don't subside rail travel like every other sensible country. Have road charging and use it to subsidise rail travel.

Once cars are self driving and thus speed limited, why would most people want to own one?

I'm willing to bet we have ridden pricing in urban areas within 10 years, if not sooner.

Have a read up about future planning for Birmingham City Centre. They are exploring the idea of closing the Aston Expressway and the city centre tunnels and also splitting Birmingham into zones and charging for driving from one zone to another. They reckon 900 people per year from respiratory diseases caused by road pollution. Every city is thinking the same way.

We do subsidise rail fares, they just happen to be Dutch, German, Italian, French, and Japanese rail fares.

There's loads of social media posts about Johnson and his shambles of a speech today.

In the meantime this is being slipped through

This is literally how fascism works, it builds schools, houses, hospitals, creates jobs, and then makes you believe someone or some group is going to take it away from you.

As if 24,000 people make any noticeable negative difference to anything in the Country. Other than perhaps the positive aspect of doing jobs that too many lazy Brits believe is beneath them.

I see France have said Patel is no longer welcome after Boris made public his demands :D

I guess we could put her in a dinghy and see if she makes it across?

The fundamental problem is many people, mostly white, and English, truly believe they are better than them.

She's a bit harsh and there was no need to penis shame, that really hurt, but it's hard to disagree with most of what she says. It really is how many countries see us.

There's plenty to be proud of being English, but somehow you never see or hear those things.

The videos being shared across the media must surely signal the demise of Johnson now.

We were refused entry to hospital in Mother-in-law's last days yet this bunch of cutns were taking the piss out of us all.

Shameful.
