Might be worth asking around any engineer friends you have and see if you could borrow an Endoscope and have a look in the spark plug hole. Dead handy bits of kit even if you end up buying one, a cheap but reasonable one is a similar price to a head gasket set.

... anyone had told me :D We were taught to cover the front brake and clutch lever all the time. And despite what we all initially felt was wrong, even downhill your front brake is the one to use. Oh and dust gets everywhere....and i do mean everywhere :D

I do which BT would let their video coverage roll for a few minutes longer though. The coverage ends as soon as the race does so you don't even see the cool down lap.

You did well to find a place with a demo bike. I've asked at Coventry about a test ride but they don't have a demo bike as they can sell everyone they get their hands on.
