Re: The new improved fitness thread

After the success of Tuesday's ride (I went out just before 9pm so there weren't that many other people out and about) I went out last night and did an 11 mile ride at about 7pm. I have learned some things which may come in useful for any other visually impaired cyclists ...

... fitting the new stanchions, it was all going swimmingly until I realised that half the innards from one fork was missing and even more from the other, to cut a long story short I'm now trying to trace two sets of internals for a pair of 35 yr old forks, how hard could that be ? actually I was ...

^^^ What they said.

The only other thing I can add is, it will get better with time. You'll never totally heal but it does get easier.

Re: Putting hand up to car drivers who pull over

... "thanks" with the hand. This∆∆∆ I've only ever see one person try and deliberately block me and it just made filtering past on the other side more enjoyable. I do see a lot of cars moving over for me including a few that do it going into a blind bend with traffic coming head on. ...

I do the "screaming at the bike" on trackdays, but other than that I'm usually listening to the radio or music so don't talk in my lid.

... polls. Dickheads. Dont sit on the the fence there bud, tell em what you think :) of course its dangerous, so is mountaineering and a myriad of other sports and pastimes, trouble is we are all so cosseted by health and safety stuff these days that some think that no activity should have a hint ...

Re: Talking in your lid

When I rode down to the mother in law's the other week, I ended up speaking to myself in a myriad of different accents.
I was cold, wet and aching after 3 hours on the bike and started with a Cockney accent and worked my way through French, Russian, Scottish and Welsh.

I have no idea why.

... either. The amount of people on phones while driving is getting worse i see so many on the bike. Went past a woman eating a bowl of cereal the other day I had to look twice i stopped the bike and looked at her as she sheepishly put it down on the passenger seat.

Had a chat with a white van man at a set of lights. He was jealous I hadn't sat in the two mile tailback like him and the other cagers. Fair play to him, he wasn't being an arse. I love it when it annoys people. They don't understand the other stuff we do have to put up with though ...

Was watching that the other night. I bought the box set a few years ago and dig it out every few months as it still just creases me up laughing but my fave episode is 'Gas' when the gasman calls.

Re: Front reservoir tank

... keen on them, from what Ive read I could fit 07-08 ones but they look very different (better, but different), and as cheap as they are compared to other rearsets they are not cheap enough for me to take a gamble on lol Like Perkles says I also have cheaper levers and they do seem pretty good quality

Traffic fines to be quadrupled

See this is what i mean about these things being the thin end of the wedge when we were discussing those Hadecs camera the other day. Driving any motor vehicle almost seems to be the most serious crime you can commit these days and governments see it as a way of taxing the working man ...
