... and found the problem. The plunger on the master cylinder wasn't sitting correctly in the lever. I gave the brakes a very quick bleed then put the after market lever on. Much better. Just for a sanity check I put the OEM lever on. It is slightly firmer. I think the plunger sits better in the OEM ...

Mine is up in a couple of weeks. I'm with MCE but they've got a reputation for bumping the price up after the first year with them. I'll see what they offer.
Bennetts and Carole Nash will get a call as well.

At no point before or after was I put any pressure to buy or subjected to any harsh sales pitch. I test rode a new 675R there last week and she suggested trying the 899. ...

... discs. The wheels and discs had only done a tfew hard miles, but looked brand new still. No marks on the wheels at all, and the discs looked fine. After fitting them, I was sure the braking performance wasn't as good, but as it was winter when I switched (and constantly wet) I couldn't be sure. ...

I've done a quick bleed of the brakes but they're still spongy. I'm starting to suspect it's the after market lever. I've heard of people having similar issues on other bikes. So either I go back to stock or I switch it all over and put the Beringer on.
