400,000 helmets in need of replacement?
... replacing a lid based on time. The modern materials are far different now. Use is the biggest factor. I replace my commuting lid every couple of years. According to that article I don't have to. That's bullshit IMO.

Me too. I've used Hastings (many years ago, so they've obviously been around quite a while) & like Andy I never needed to claim so am unable to comment in that respect.

To be honest all the R&G and evotech ones I have owned over the years have mounted straight on the frame spar. The ones you describe that are bolted to a plate which is then secured to the frame at the other end are marketed as NOT requiring the fairing ...
