Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

A company that doesn't pay tax hiring workers on zero hours contracts. I'm sure the government is delighted. (wait) This lot.?? (shake) I shouldn't expect they'll give a flying duck, just so long as they keep getting their backhanders & favours. The United Kingdom's deterioration won't really e...

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

A Nation of delivery drivers and warehouse workers selling imported goods...that's what Britian is becoming.

Brexit? They had 4 years to plan and instead spent it arguing and doing nothing else.

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

There's pavement stones in Germany to mark where people lived before being dragged off to an extermination camp.

Do they go as well?

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

In Paris, this photo shows the stones still viewable from one of the original guillotines bases outside Prison de la Roquette. These would have been erased years ago if this was the UK, but the French leave them there...as a reminder. https://assets.atlasobscura.com/media/W1siZiIsInVwbG9hZHMvcGxhY2...

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

We never had a proper revolution but we should be more like the French and not take shit from those at the top of the tree. Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

I think we're fast heading towards the return of Victorian values: no rights for workers, land owners with all the power, the poor ignored and a greater divide in society

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

On top of that, I was reading an article about smaller towns and villages being turned into ghost towns because of holiday homes, further decimating incomes. On top of that fishing boats being unmoored by the owners of holiday homes because they don't like the noise is making. There are times I genu...

Re: The Daily Post Election Politics Thread

Report on Channel 4 news about Newquay. One free food place serves 8,500 meals every weekend I can see Cornwall and many places being on its knees in in a year or two. Lots of coastal places were already struggling before brexit and the virus. Many locals can't afford to live and eat in towns they g...

Re: The new improved fitness thread

Ride into work 31mins
Ride home 26mins.

There's a reduction of 20m climbing on the way home but it's pretty flat. My knee hurts after that though.

Re: The new improved fitness thread

Commuted by MTB. I presume my watch wasn't accurately detecting my HR because I set 5 PRs on Strava and my max HR was only 89bpm. All other segments were my 2nd fastest. Probably a question for Perks... how do you stop getting a painfully numb meat & 2 veg? I had to stop to allow the shrivelled...

Re: The new improved fitness thread

The HR sensor is on the rear of my smart watch and I had the strap done up as tight as I did on previous rides and it's only got a small amount of skin oil on it. Gave it a wipe, will see if it reads similar this afternoon. Yep I have bib shorts with a decent chamois. I just don't know where is best...
