That's a blessed crash if there ever was one Itchy! If you had a faired bike you would've snapped mounts at a minimum for sure! Glad you are relatively OK and you know the reasons why. It took me a fair while to not do exactly what you did. It's a mind bend when you get out of sorts ...

Cheers Monty, I'll look into those, never heard of them before so not sure if they are available here. I have to get tyres first thing as big chunks are coming off and splits appearing between the tread blocks, so not much choice but to go with the Yokohamas ...

I'm sure you're right, and suspect most tyres don't really need much running in these days. I just tend to give any new tyres at least 50 miles regardless of how they feel, just to be safe. More for my own head than anything ...
