Time for a new lid!

Been far too long since I replaced my lid (which came from Cornish in the first place). Now I'm putting in a few more miles, I'd be stupid not to start looking.

Currently got an AGV like this....

But when the Honda eventually makes it on the road....I'm gonna look like a bit of a helmet wearing that on a cafe racer type bike.

So, after something I can use on both the Daytona and the CB.

Price wise....£500 max?!?

I've got a Nolan lid. Vastly underrated in the UK. Good build quality, reasonably quiet, drop down sun visor and easy to change visors.

I really enjoy me Shark speed R.

Was comfy up to about an hour of use when new and then pressed a bit on my forehead. but I don't get that now. I guess it just needed bedding in.

Got a black insert visor which is great for commuting all year.

And a big range of colours and designs. Its designed for naked bikes too, so doesn't look too racey.

I've got a Nexx Carbon. It's leaps and bounds over my other HJC lid, very light and quiet - while at speed and when in the right position on the bike :-)
But unsure if that's what your be looking for really!!

I bought an expensive Schuberth, didn't like it, neck cushion was wrong in a sports bike crouch, the drop down sun visor left a space at the bottom that dazzled, and the forehead lining fell apart. So much for German quality.

I read all the reviews too and decided after a long spell of looking into other lids that the Nexx would be the better option for me.

Can't think what company it was I brought it off but they are on 675cc and they were absolute stars in keeping me up to date on the order - especially as they had problems with stock from factory (basically had nothing!!) but anyway was so glad I bought it in the end :-)

This is the one I have - I also have the tinted visor too and love it :-)

I have it too. I do like it but just like D6, I get about an hour out of it before I start to get a headache. I thought it was a bedding in thing but I've had it for too long for it to be that. So for longer trips I grt my old Shoei out or take some Anadin with me!

Fwiw I have a Nexx Carbon, and a Shark Vision R.

I use the Nexx on track. Exceptionally light & stable. Visibility is fantastic.

I use my Shark for commuting. Not as light, but it has a flip down internal sun visor. Visibility is also very good.

As I ride crouched, I need a helmet that has a high field of vision at the top. Both these offer that. The Shark is quieter, but slightly more bulky & heavy.

The company that Rossgo got his lid from was Formotorbikes.com . They are the official UK importers for NEXX, and Matt who runs it is a http://www.675.cc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; forum member

Shoei for me. Not found a brand that has come close to the same feel of quality, comfort and vision.

Keen on the nexx. But not to keen on buying without trying!

Always liked Shoei and Arai personally and been happy with both.

Currently have a Shoei X-Spirit which is extremely light and comfortable with very very effective ventilation which is great for summer use.

I also have a Shoei GT Air which is a great all round helmet. A little heavier than the X-Spirit and the vents are not as effective but a good helmet and has the benefit of an internal tinted visor which was the main reason I bought it. I found I was doing a lot of my riding on summer nights when the light obviously fades later on and its no good being caught out with a dark race visor.

The other advantage with the Shoei is the the EQRS Emergency Quick Release System:

Blade that's a great bit of safety equipment. Think that might be a design that would be rolled out onto a few more lids in years to come :-)
