I don't undertsand why the Government sits there and does very little. Take the money off Centrica, Shell and BP and subsidise the prices to the end user with the windfall cash.

From April we are being told we will just have to suck it up yet the wholesale price has come down.

The way energy is marketed on international markets is now a broken system and needs changing, otherwise many countries will struggle with recession for years to come.

Because they're happily lining their own pockets at our expense. I bet they're all major shareholders in the energy companies, and I can imagine the kickbacks in donations are pretty lucrative as well.

IMO a windfall isn't the correct action. It does nothing to fix the underlying issue, only patch over the top. Plus it will be used as an excuse to jig profit and loss reports to reduce corporation tax payments.

The pricing model needs fixing and a watchdog needs to be put in place to control the price cap on behalf of the consumer, not the companies. This will never happen under a Tory government as Tories are about the businesses, not the people.

Got my last quarter power bill.

18% up on cost for same period last year. Lots of suggestions included on the bill on how to bring my usage down to save money.

Looked at the actual usage compare to last year. 10% less consumption.

So effectively a 28% increase in actual costs!

So my suggestion back to them is stop being thieving barstards and it will save me money

My fixed rate mortgage ends in July

There's nothing worth going for on fixed rates so I'm having to bite the bullet and go on a standard tracker. I'm hoping rates will eventually drop but in the short term I'm going to be absolutely skint.

Mine ends in November. Fortunately old age means the increase is manageable but I still think we will hit a recession once the mortgage increases start to bite as the year goes on.

Still at least those poor bankers won’t go hungry.

It’s strange how the world cannot help those in trouble because there is no money yet 5 wealthy people with more money than sense go missing whilst having a jolly looking at a very expensive grave and suddenly all the stops are pulled out to save them with money no object.

power companies in NSW have just hiked their prices between 25-40% across the board.

I got away easy apparently, 25% on general use and 30% on control load

That's a decent increase. But I've got to say I prefer your increase to the ones we've had in the UK.
