Hawkesbury Floods

Post by kiwikrasher »

Here some satellite pics in this article of the Windsor-Richmond area down the hill from me.

When ever I refer to “town” this is where I mean. We have very limited retail up the mountain.

The floods this time have surpassed last year and are the worst since 1961

Correction, surpassed the 1978 floods but not quite at 1961 floods atm. We are hopefully it’s at the peak. Rain has eased now. Actually have a bit of blue sky today.

So last night, because it had been a month since Jess has seen her kids (placement, COVID then floods) we decided to drive around the long way and get them. That way has a slip so down to one lane, contra flow (stop go situation) so the return trip took us 7 hrs.

The river receded much faster than predicted and by 2pm today one lane was open. If we’d waited till today we could have recovered the kids in 40 min (facepalm)
