An X wing really isn't suitable for him. It's too small with no storage or sleeping spaces and no where to keep his bounty.

Looks like they're highlighting the gunslinger approach.

Plus I felt that this episode had more of a Star Wars feel to it.

Not watched the new episode yet, but I think I've worked out why it doesn't feel very starwarsy to me. John Williams didn't do the music/score.
