That's a bit of a strange move. Not many mv owners get rid of the OEM exhaust. I'm guessing we'll see the akra cans on the limited edition bikes MV make all the bloody time.

I agree that MV exhausts are one of the few OEM systems that rarely need changing

But from a production view point it’s a very good move by MV to reduce their R&D/production by dropping the exhaust component and out sourcing it to a well known dedicated exhaust company that will produce specific exhausts for them at no doubt a better bottom line overall.

Maybe it's the other way around.? - Perhaps the ongoing legislation changes are heavily hitting the aftermarket exhaust market, and Akrapovic are looking for a more sustained future existence.??

I think this is spot on.

I suspect in 5 years time, fitting aftermarket exhausts to new bikes will be a thing of the past so it makes sense to get the bikes sounding as good as possible from new.

My Street Triple does not need a new exhaust to make it sound better, its already spot on as was the Hypermotard i test rode a few weeks back.

Good perspective St Marks, makes plenty of sense.

St Marks wins it. I think that's probably it.

Germany and Switzerland are taking a very hard approach to noisy exhausts.

Also just reading that plod in Wales is taking action against noisy exhausts on bikes.

About 15,000 a year I think.

That's a fair few more than I thought, TBH.
I imagined it was somewhere between 2000-4000.
Why I thought that is beyond me. Perhaps because I hardly ever see them over here.
Just a handful of them over the years.

A few Italian police forces use them

There's loads of Americans on the MV forum.
