My Newish bike

Post by kingfixer »

Getting one of these delivered on Thursday, 18 plate 3000 miles. I loved the style and seating position of the XT660 but just too underpowered for me, so got something a bit newer with more power.

Ooooh I love them!

Which engine? Be prepared to push it for fuel a lot. The one I rode had a customer 28L fibreglass fuel tank that you filled from behind the seat and I think he got about 180miles from that.

They handle amazing though and IMO the perfect bike for Dunlop Mutants

This is the 900 which is the only one you can get now I think, they stopped making the 1200 and this one is basically the bored out 750.

I had one of the 750's as a loaner once while my RSV4 was being sorted out, it was an absolute hoot to ride, I was sad to give it back in the end. So when I was thinking about what to get this was really the first thing I thought about. I enjoyed the XT660 but it was terribly underpowered especially for overtaking, see a gap twist the throttle and......not a lot, you had to plan your overtakes to give the bike enough time to do it :D :D But loved the way it handled etc.

The XT makes a great bike for going round the world judging by the book I am currently reading.

What book is that Duke?

Nice bike Kingfixer, I did consider a motard when I sold my track bike but I was too worried about my licence (lol)

Mine is exactly the same as that one, that’s the only colour they came in for that year, you can get them in black this year I think.

This one. It's a book that tells it like it is, warts and all and it's all the better for it..its a journey across Africa not the world as I said.

Happy New Bike Day Kingfixer, iirc the weather's looking to improve over the coming week (up here anyway) so hopefully you'll get to play before very long.
