Re: Coronavirus - hype or pandemlc?

From Monday 28 anyone who gets a positive test or is contacted by the Test and Trace system and told they may have the virus will be forced to self isolate, under threat of a 10k fine for not doing it.

So if you don’t take a test you don’t risk a fine.

Personally I think that's an insult to the donkeys.

Well, it does assume that people want to live, I suppose.
The whole testing apparatus over there is "in meltdown" - according to the health spokesman fot the Lib-Dems.
I think they're just throwing out a few empty threats to try & kickstart things back on track.

According to this offical data only 6% of current UK covid cases require hospitalisation. No mention of how many are fatal, but seeing as the survival rate is 99.6% I can't see it as many.

Over 28000 people died in this country from seasonal flu in 2014/15.

Like the media and everyone else, I must have missed that pandemic (facepalm)

You can with that graph.

Unless you stop the rise in the numbers testing positive, then the numbers hospitalised will rise at the same rate.

Covid isn't just about the deaths. Lots of people have been left witjy long term lung damage. There's no knowing what that'll do in the future.

What you can assume from that graph is that unless you reverse the numbers contracting covid, then the numbers being hospitalised with covid will continue to rise. The two are directly correlated.

I have spent too much time in hospitals this year, for various reasons, and i have yet to speak to one nurse or doctor who thinks the whole thing is a sham.

There is that and there is also the fact that once the hospitals get over run with patients with difficulties caused by covid, then they are unable to treat patients with other health issues.

If hospitals do got over run again without any sort of lockdown, then people will take their own action and self isolate regardless for fear of contracting it and there being no chance of them being treated...and then the economy collapses anyway and the Government has zero control over it.

The hospitals were not full at the peak of the virus, and I dont think the virus is a sham.

I do think the fear is unessecary and I don't agree with a lot of the policy relating to it though.

We didn't have enough of the right type of ventilators to fill our hospitals. Which is why the care home deaths should be a massive national scandal. Instead the government blamed the care homes for the deaths.

100% agree. Sending Covid infected patients into care homes full of vulnerable patients, was stupid at best and man slaughter in other eyes. Someone should answer for that. Completely unacceptable.

Many were. Stoke and Stafford hospitals combined had 6 wards with covid patients. This is from the nurse who treated me a few weeks ago. This doesn't take into account those who were in critical care.

Some nurses were taken from their other duties to care for patients in covid wards because those patients needed round the clock care. That means that the things thsoe nurses should be doing elsewhere in the hospital could not be done.

Every winter critical care beds are 80-90% full at the peak. It takes very little to tip that over the edge. Covid did in some areas.

If people followed the common sense rule of not putting themselves or their family at risk and the Government had clear and concise regulations to follow, most things would still be possible but it takes only a handful of people to ruin that for everyone. And we do not have clear and concise rules.
