there have been rumours floating around the italian press since april - it still hasn't happened , much as I would like to see Bimota return in decent hands I doubt that it will be Kawasaki that rescues it . I hope I am wrong .

The DB-7/DB-8's are some of the best looking bikes out there....and rarest, probably.
Can't see them having the same boutique appeal with a Kawi engine "under the hood".

they have used engines from Honda , Yamaha , Suzuki , BMW and Ducati , why would a Kawasaki power plant make them any less desirable ?
Also one of the very first Bimotas was the Kawasaki engined KB1 - circa 1978 , they made their name by putting powerful and reliable Japanese engines into a chassis that actually handled well and looked pretty too .

Well there you go...every day's a school day!!
I'd always thought they were a Ducati-only transplant.

Go back to the 70's when I was just starting out and Bimota were the "I want" brand to own.

The KB series was out of reach of the majority of riders, but it went like the clappers and unlike Kaewasaki's of the day such as thr KH500/750 and Z1/Z900 it actually went around corners ;)

I was fortunate enough to later own a couple of Bimota's my favourite being my HB1 (picture below)

Ducati engines were not used until the late 80's maybe early 90's with the Tesi by which time they were already struggling.

The SB7 and YB9's were special bikes though.
