My boss phoned in sick today. He's been signed off for the week. He said he's got flu but I reckon he's run down. We've not replaced two team members, his father in law died earlier this year, his mum is ill and his dog died last week.

Hopefully he'll get some rest.

Back to work today after last week off with sickness and diarrhoea and 2 days annual leave this week. I honestly needed the time off mentally too.

I was fecked last week, I would say I only began to feel okay on Monday

My boss had a go at me for doing some work and not telling him I had done it. Despite the have it's sitting there on our car management system

I sent him a reply pointing out I was trying to get as much work done as possible last week so he didn't have too much to come back to..

He soon climbed down. I think his head is still all over the place.

I still have a job.

It was literally bringing up all the negatives. There was zero praise and the 2 categories which relate to communication and interpersonal skills were "below expectations".

I confronted his integrity on the matter, explaining that when I spoke to the affected persons they all told me they didn't have a problem with me. So then I asked why he's telling me one thing and they are telling me another. I even asked if it was because of personal indifferences and problems he holds against me. He just said that my interpersonal skills might result in people not coming back to me.

Later on he said, "it's been better for the last few months so you've obviously been making an effort".

I replied with the truth, telling him, "I've actually just hidden in my shell, I've not been interacting with people as much as possible... staying in my place". He asked who I wasn't interacting with and I honestly told him, "everyone... inside and outside the team". I don't think he was expecting that as he didn't have anything to say in return.

Do you think the session achieved anything?

It identified that he does indeed have a personal problem with me and he didn't try to persuade me otherwise.. even when I asked him if that was the reason for him telling me a problem and the people alleged to have the problem with me don't know what he's talking about.

So other than potential future grievance... no.. no it didn't achieve anything.

The new job seems to be going well so far. The trust is coming and I'm taking more control of the code, and the direction of the application design.

Monday is going to be interesting as it will be my first office Christmas do in 13 years..

Myself and my co-Chair have been receiving great feedback from the members of the committee in our handling, running and organisation of the group. Its even resulted in someone who left the group giving it another go.

It shouldn't be as difficult as everyone previously in the group makes out so we are working hard to make sure we tackle each and every anticipated roadblock in advance.

Looking forward to the 4 day weekend, it's been a very hard month of learning and getting the project up to scratch.

Next year is going to be quite tough as we have a hard deadline in April to keep the funding going.

I'm casually browsing other opportunity's, since August I have been trying to get off nights but management seem to like me where I am.
Then one of the night managers had a go at one of my colleagues who said he was tired after 9 hours...
A direct quote "It's not my place to say BUT if you are tired after only working 9 hours you should start looking for another career"
I took the guy out of earshot and told him straight, "If you are tired you go home! He can't do a thing about it because it's a safety issue... IF you go out and have an accident the first thing that F-ing guy will do is deny that you told him that you were tired."

There is supposed to be a 10 hour limit on mandatory night shift work on driving jobs, you can go beyond that on a voluntary basis if asked, but managers absolutely should not book shifts likely to go beyond that without asking or use bully boy tactics to force drivers into it, effectively threatening his job if he refuses the extra work.

Because the legal max is 15 hours this particular guy thinks he can make us work all of it... I have locked horns with him on this before, and he did threaten to report me for refusing to do my job... Nothing came of it.

Hrs got a dangerous attitude. You can't mess around with drivers welfare and wellbeing. Regulations are there for a very important reason.

Our Quality Management and Enterprise Management Systems are both down and I've been off machines for so long I don't feel overly confident assisting setting all the changeovers that are planned. Today's off to a flying start (clap)

I've got nothing to do. I'm supposed to record 6.8 hours of work a day. I've done .8 so far and there's nothing else unless I get something in by email
