Job done. New contract starting in just over 2 weeks. I think that must be a record for, first contact about the position was 6 days ago.

It's a fairly small company in Reading that writes executive search software. Easy commute, 25 mins on the bike or option of the train.

One of the biggest benefits of contracting, there are downsides, but being able to just up an move when a job gets on your tits is great for stress levels.

I'm officially back at work.

My target for the next two weeks has been reduced to 0% then it's at 50% for two months.

I can go on any training courses I want to.

Yep, that's the main issue. But at least HR are involved now. The moment there's any trouble u can kick off.

I've just got to watch it on the new job front. I have to give 3 months notice. Then when I move it's 3 or 6 months probation and it's not uncommon in this profession to refuse holiday during probation. So that means missing out on the family summer holidays.

It won't stop me me looking though. I can ask about holidays if I get any offers

The way things are going mate, by the time you guys hit summer you won’t be able to travel without a 2 week COVID-19 isolation period! Summer holidays this year might be scuppered even without a new job.

I've got a telephone chat with a recruitment consultant tomorrow. I know they're the spawn of the devil but they're driven by commission so they do make sure you're getting interviews.

Spoke to the recruitment bod. It's a bit quiet at the moment as firms sort out their budgets. She reckons the market will open up again after April.

This virus crap is going to slow stuff up as well.

The bank has got a massive people shuffle going on at the moment. Some people are being sent to different offices with access to their normal office being revoked, others are working from home indefinitely with access to all sites revoked. It's madness.
