Putting big miles on a Multi will work out expensive. 15,000 mile services can cost £1k.

If it were me i would be looking at a Yamaha Tracer 900 or a KTM or a Tiger 800.

Ah that z1000 definitely out the two.

Love the KTM shame the display is not the TFT like on the 1290 is my only gripe.

Nutz likes his VFR so the SX is a close fit. It's a great bike, can commute and tour and it's not bad on the weekend ride outs. You can get loads of bits for them and they're not too expensive to maintain.

Yeah that SX my mate has in silver. It's a class of it's own. Is like a really comfortable superbike. Was a toss up for me to go this route or another dual sport. This would be my choice .

BMW R1200GS.

Has genuine sportsbike chasing ability on the road, simple and cheap to home service, that all important shaft drive for commuting and hold there value well with lots of spares, cheaply and readily available.

If I had only one bike it would be a GS. Get a test ride, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as they really can get a shift on, are alot of fun and eat miles

Z1000SX is a great bike. Think that would be a perfect blend of sports and touring.

Right, so this won't be something that happens in the near future probably a month or so away. Also I'm only going to be looking at stealers, I need to chop in both bikes to get enough cash to buy something new and I can't be without a bike. PX, even though taking a hit on the price seems to be the most sensible option plus a guaranteed 3 month warranty minimum.

So far the only bike out of the equation is the Suzuki V-Strom, it's too tall and short arse here can't get both feet on the ground.

I feel there is going to be a long list as there is so much choice on the market these days, in no particular order are some of the bikes on the radar:

Triumph Tiger 800
Ducati Multistrada (both the 1200 and 950)
BMW S1000XR
BMW GS (though I'm not sure I could buy one)
KTM 1290 GT
Kawazaki Z1000SX
Kawazaki Versys 1000
Honda VFR (both 800 and crossrunner)

So far the initial pull is towards the Mutley and the SX. I might have to swing by premier bikes on the way home one day as they have a lot of these in their used stock at the moment... Good to see them all in one place..

I can vouch for the GT, it's a great all rounder.

Unless you're getting one of the new SE Versys 1000 I wouldn't bother. The handling isn't the sharpest but the new ones are supposed to be very good.

The Honda Crossrunner is incredibly dull.

My only slight concern would be if the riding position is to heavy on the wrists..

It's not. The bars are pretty high up, probably very similar to the vfr I suspect.

I did France on it without any issues.

Exactly.. nearly hooked me in that deal. As for the bar position. Very comfortable. Not like a race bike. They are quite elevated.

Hummm.. I was planning on going to Swindon on Saturday to return the trousers I bought as they don't fit comfortably. Blade group is just down the road, would be rude not too pop in and have a butchers.
