RZ500..... kind of

It’s a special based on a RZ500 motor and frame but that about all the Yamaha parts on it. I really don’t know how I feel about it. The RZ500 is the ‘80’s bike I’d most like to own, and this just seems to disrespect the legacy. But then it’s put together very well and has had some amazing work go in it, so I appreciate it from that engineering stand point.

Thoughts?

It's 35 years old, and the price of a brand new bike. I like old bikes as much as anyone I suppose, but buying that certainly shows commitment.

The original RZ500’s go for $15-20K here depending on originality and condition. I’d pay that if the right one came up. They are only appreciating in value nowadays.

But that thing is a different category, I wouldn’t want to sink that sort of money into something that’s value is so subjective.

I really like it. It's tastefully done.

I like the look and idea of it, but 1, if you have to kill the original to make this it’s a sin, 2, an old engine producing 85bhp/63kw in a new chassis that weighs 180 kilos is going to feel slow by today’s standards, so it just doesn’t work for me and I’m a stroker fan.

Agree with you both on all points

I can appreciate the engineering etc and it does look good and I bet it sounds nice too but as has been said its an 85bhp motor it's hardly going to out perform even a 10 yr old R6 which could be had for a fraction of the cost , I love 2 strokes and if I won the lottery I'd buy a Suter but there has essentially been little to no development of 2 stroke technology for 20 years .
