So what's the plan? Keep the current Tiger for commuting and use the new one for fun?
Yes mate keeping the tiger to do the annual 20k miles a year commute. And keep the the XCA for pleasure .. ride outs and holidays..

After having the R1 from new and putting nearly 90k miles in 5 years and the tiger I had with 7k miles and now has 95k.. breaks my heart.. so now ill just replace the engines on the old one as and when. And call her my little mule...

Yeah, I know that one.

I think I'm going to do the same with the Versys. It's pretty basic so I can (hopefully) learn how to keep it running.

I'll have to see if I'm brave enough to take the ATAS off road and join you one of the weekends.

For sure.. although I haven't been off road for over a year but do miss it. A day out would be awesome. I don't know any up north / Midlands though. Only ever down south.

A) gets expensive. I wouldn't go off road without proper tyres like TKC80 or something. Stock dual sport tyres don't cut it..

B) high change the bike will go down .. ego may seriously be hurt.. on the plus side once it's been down a couple of times you tend to become ok with it..to a degree

Compared to riding my mates dirt bike.. riding these big dial sports really is a fun challenge. Think you'd love it

End of the month. Basically they had a wait on the panniers and topbox carriage. They offered to do at first 500 service if I want the bike sooner. But I told them to keep and I will collect the bike when everything is on it one go.

Also weathers crap. Would be nice to get it home at least to look at it showroom clean after getting it from the dealer. Instead of covered in crud within 5 minutes Image

Seems sensible, no point getting a new bike if it's going to look like it's done the Paris Dakar by the time you get it home.

When I rode my ZX6R home it was snowing and dark.. The Bridgestone BT023 tyres were shod too so that wasn't fun!

Similar story here, spankey new 675, new shiny SuperCorsas and a tropical downpour in April c/w aquaplaning cars and coaches. Let’s just say it was a challenge.

I rate Supercorsas in the wet but no brand new tyre is pleasant in the wet!

I had a brand new set put on my old SV650S, huge downpour as soon as they were done. Pulled onto the main road and steadily pulled away - I could have sworn my clutch was slipping and it was only when I started to slow down the rear wheel stopped spinning! It wasn't a pleasant journey

You can hammer the M7rr in the wet from new.

Really? :|

I don't mind spanking a brand new tyre in the dry (road or track) but not in the wet

They're blown out of the mould so there's no crap on them and they've got excellent mechanical grip in the wet.

What does that mean...."blown out of the mould"??

....The solvent or "release agent" washed off of them??

Re: New bike

There is no release agent. They use air to get them out of the mould.

I just checked on this.....'cos I've heard different things over the years.

Michelin apparently do still use a release agent.....the others - Bridgestone, Dunlop & Pirelli, don't anymore ..and if they ever did, they stopped using it back @ 2005-2006-ish, and as you say, these days they blast it out of the mold with air.

That kinda makes sense...as I'm going off old info from waaaay back when I bought my first Daytona in early '06. And I do kinda remember someone saying something about "not having to worry about that anymore" the first time it needed new rubber.

They're able to not use the releasing agents now due to the machining ability and tolerance of the moulds themselves. Probably using S50 steel moulds which are rated to about 2,000,000 units IIRC
