Popping up on lampposts all around the West Midlands.

Go up to Stoke this morning and they have also installed some on the A500, and they were not there a few weeks ago.

Front I suspect. No idea if they work both sides of the road though.

These are they. very subtle as they are generally affixed to the normal street lamp posts.

I had been driving past them for about three weeks before i even noticed them. And they are average speed cameras over a distance rather than an instant shot.

just remove your number plate , I am aware of somebody who has not had a plate on for over a year , who rides regularly and has never been pulled .

I saw a car like this the other day. Plate on the front but not the rear.

That's very common now. They put the plate on the dashboard and argue it's just happen off

Youths usually put it on the dash as it looks cool...I think it looks horrible to be honest. Too many speed cameras around. The M4 has got average speed cameras as they are doing road works. I've never seen so many accidents down that road than I have since it's all 50. Just this morning I saw a car smashed up and facing the wrong way by the junction. This was at 6AM and very very light traffic. The guy was standing there on his phone clearly trying to call insurance
Must of just happened.

Just don't get it, people spend more time looking down at the speedo rather than looking at what is ahead of them

The single biggest issue I see in driving around Aussie is people don’t look further that the vehicle in front of them and they are completely reactionary rather than pre-emptive.

I firmly believe motorbike riding at a young age and as my first road going transport has taught me to look ahead, give yourself room for the unexpected and plan for what you expect may happen given the traffic and conditions.

It’s not hard to follow as a distance you can see around the car ahead and when you see vehicles further ahead slow or brake, to increase you following distance, ease of the gas to anticipate the vehicle immediately ahead slowing.

But no, majority follow far to close, monitor their phone more than the traffic ahead and then react to brake lights practically on their bumper by slamming on their own brakes.

Similarly I’ve noticed inattention of motorists behind me and them braking hard when they finally realise they’ve got too close, and repeat the behaviour over and over. I’ve even pulled off the road at lights and had a car behind lock up and slide into the spot I just made for them because I could see they had no eyes forward for the last 50m before the lights.

If you can't drive and check your speedo from time to time you shouldn't be on the road.

I've not had a speeding ticket in my time on the road - ride aware - follow signage - don't ignore cameras even if you "think they're off".

People who complain about being caught speeding through smart networks when the speed limit isn't shown are absolute morons who shouldn't be on the road.

This is the issue - yes I agree people shouldn't be driving if they can't drive without having their head up but everyone does it. You see a speed camera and regardless if you say you do or don't I almost guarantee majority of people watch the clock rather than the road. I've watched it when walking to/ from work. Don't agree with having so many cameras on the road, it makes people watch speed rather than the road. Dangerous place to be especially when we have more and more muppets with their distractions eg mobile phone etc

Counter-argument, Rossgo. If the roads are covered with cameras then it will just be the norm to drive slower and possibly below the speed LIMIT.

In a city I don't ever look at my speed and if I was to ever get a ticket I would be very surprised as I'm probably the slowest motorist in the city (when in a car)

Just always drive like you're planning an overtake....sort of. Have an escape route, keep your options open, in other words.
